I enjoyed the story line of this book a lot. It was almost like reading another Twilight but no vampires and all werewolves. It kept me sucked in and the character build up was good. If you enjoy reading Twilight give this book a chance. I love how the main female character Nikki had more to offer than just being a normal human. I can't wait to see where her part in all this leads. I really like Adam's character too. He loves Nikki at first sight and is quick to claim her. (Soul mates always know) I hate characters that take over half the book to build into more and this did not disappoint. I can't wait to start on book 2! I hope it's just a great and builds more!!

This story is about Nikki, a teenage girl who has just moved to a new school. There are many new things she will learn about herself, and she will meet some very interesting people. One of those people is Adam, who is also a werewolf. The existence of werewolves in this book has a very interesting back story, and I have never read anything similar to it. Usually we readers are expected to just accept their existence, but I enjoyed learning about their culture and why they exist.

There are some other very interesting mythical creatures in this story including sasquatch, and spritebloods. There are also plenty of real wildlife, and I especially loved that Adam was able to communicate with them so easily. I also loved reading along as Nikki’s gift revealed itself and as she learned how to control it.

There is a sinister presence that seems determined to do her harm, lending a dash of suspense to this tale. The facts were hidden well enough that I did not know how things would turn out, and I’m usually pretty good at figuring out a mystery. I have to admit I was surprised by the ending, which was cleverly done. This is definitely a series that holds a reader’s interest!
A story about Mom and daughters moving into a spooky house near an Indian reservation
and a forest that gives off evil vibes. The story could have become trite and at some
points it does but there is enough history and character development that almost saves
it from being predictable. I say almost because the romance aspect with Niki,Brian and
Adam gets a bit sticky. But there are enough other characters that are unexpected
and add spice.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a good story and progressed easily. It was a little bit slow to start but after you got over the angsty start it, the characters were engaging and had me hooked. I will say that I found the end a little bit rushed and I wish she had developed more of the white wolf storyline, or that we had been able to see the reactions of the others once she became the white wolf. Other than I I found it enjoyable and captivating. The last thing I want to add is that I loved the attitude and intergrity of the leading female character, she was beautiful character that was beautifully written.
I did not realize when I purchased this book that it was a YA book, those are just not my cup of tea. I almost just dejected it from my . I’m glad I didn’t.
Ms. Thompson’s writing is solid. Her characters, while being in high school, manage to avoid being whiny one dimensional slaves to their hormones (although she does have sexual desire and tension). Her characters are flawed but likeable and well-rounded. I didn’t encounter a single scene where I wanted to smack anyone for being young and stupid. Yet at the same time neither do they come off as ‘incredibly mature’ for their age. Instead in a nutshell they are likeable and believable.
I realize this book falls under the paranormal genre, but I love how the paranormal is tied into Native American beliefs. That is something I have not encountered before.
I personally am looking forward to the next installment.

This is not the usual formula paranormal book. Yes, it has werewolves, but it also has magic and that definitely enhances this book. I really enjoyed it and became fully involved in the story. The storyline was really interesting and provided twists and turns to keep the reader guessing what would happen next. The characters were well developed and complex and made the reader care about them. This first book in the series made me want to read the next one. I definitely recommend this book. Enjoy!
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked this book. It's a paranormal YA and not one that pushes the limits of whether your teen should read it or not. Nikki is 17 and moving to a different place after the death of her father. As podunk as it seems to be, this new place hides all sorts of mysteries and fantastical creatures. Nikki herself is not what she thinks she is. When she arrives, she meets Brian, the all around good guy who has taken an interest in her. And then there's Adam, who lives on the reservation. Adam who has secrets of his own. I will admit that at first this sounded way too much like Twilight, but then it took a left turn into something way different and I like that. A great read!
