This book made me regret my rule about finishing every book I start. Like a 10 year old reading a book on writing and then writing a book. One of the collage male students ask another collage male students not to leave his room till he fell asleep because he was scared. Guys don't do that. Everyone…even the evil characters all rolled their eyes throughout the book. The book had so many mistakes it got ridiculous. They get in the car to go see Bobby. They put their seat belts on. He slam on the breaks and the guy in the back seat lands in the front between the seat. He gets back in the back seat and puts his seat belt on Again. You can't remember you just wrote two lines ago the guy already put his seat belt on. You reread lines over just to make sure you read it correctly because it contradicts something wrote earlier. This happens the whole book. I will never forget the authors name that's for sure. God forbid I mistakenly download anything of his again.Tags : The Legend of the Firewalker [Steve Bevil] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <b> It's terrific! I love your wise-cracking hero, who finds himself thrust into these bizarre circumstances with no real guide. And I love the set-up of the supernatural world and these well-defined characters. It's got a strong cinematic feel and it creates tremendous atmosphere. The Legend of the Firewalker Steve Bevil 9781492285182 Books Reviews
I for one loved this book, i read others reviews, and i had to write one of my own, not every book is perfect because no human is perfect. This is a great book. From start to finish. If it wasnt good to me then i would say so. If you are looking for am escape from reality and want to use your imagination then this book is for. You. This author used his imagination and it is awesome, You wont be sorry you got to read it. I got it for free from kindle. So i think its a must read, i also read book 2. Its more amazing, waiting on book 3..
I read the book to the last page. The book was boring and I had a hard time staying with it. The characters are not well developed. Conversations tend to be ordinary and blaise for a good portion of the book. The primary character is a nice guy who is slow to recognize changes and it makes for a dull character. The book hinted at the legend of The Firewalker and that fact that Nathan is most likely The Firewalker; however this was not followed up with details. Instead our character is going about doing chores for a camp and parties, where the campers aren't really camping, but staying in a high rise situated on a lake.
Nathan has a dream that it takes to the very end of the book for the girl to meet him. Instead our other characters are planning parties or doing chores, and those are boring.
This book just dragged and dragged. I only made it to Chapter 6 before I couldn't take it anymore. It felt like the author was just ignoring the plot line the entire time I was reading it. From the few glimpses and things that happened I thought this seemed like it could be interesting. However, for every chapter I read, there was only one or two sentences that were even really relevant to the main story.
This is how i felt about the way the plot was developing...
1 chapter, main character eavesdropping "So this bad thing happened"... many pages later and into the next chapter "So you know that conversation you were having about someone I don't even know... yea what was that about?", "Oh it was no big deal, she's fine." Next Chapter "So what else can you tell me about that conversation I wasn't supposed to have heard?" "Oh nothing new, haven't talked to her at all since but here's where she was last I did hear from her."
The plot moved along like molasses. I couldn't take it anymore.
This book was so poorly written that I would give it no stars if I could. I shouldn't have expected much from a free book, but this was awful. For example, there is a difference between a smile, a grin, a smirk, and a sneer. This fellow doesn't seem to understand which is which or when to use the correct noun. The author struggles to express the thoughts of a character who is speaking to him- or herself. Moreover, I cannot understand why the author chose to use "ugh" as a filler Yes, the term has its place, but this author's use of "ugh" seemed inapposite. The English language has thousands and thousands of words. It is unfortunate that this author's apparent favorite is "ugh". The story was convoluted, but not in a surprising or interesting way; the adults in the story were all hiding something and the teenagers were all just jerks. I didn't want to finish, but I did just to see if it got any better. I shouldn't have bothered.
I liked the premise for the book. Bad things happening to innocent people, boy finds he has powers, finds out others around him have powers, bad people looking for something to do something terrible, heroes in the making, secrets. What I disliked was the plodding tiresome dialogue to get even a tidbit of information. I found myself reading the summary more than once to see if I'd selected the right ebook, to make sure it was a YA fantasy. It took so darn long to get to any interesting information - it was doled out sporactically. The book was confusing at times, mixing up characters' names. Distances were confusing, at one point you have to drive to get to another character's house, but in another instance, they just walked to the house, huh? It was so jumbled I can't even review it. I stayed to the end because there was this glimmer of a good story buried under all that verbage and I kept hoping it would appear before the end of the book. It did somewhat but it didn't come together the way I thought it should have. I'll probably get the 2nd book hoping that the author has managed to pull it together, if not, 2nd book is end of the line for me.
This book made me regret my rule about finishing every book I start. Like a 10 year old reading a book on writing and then writing a book. One of the collage male students ask another collage male students not to leave his room till he fell asleep because he was scared. Guys don't do that.
